red strip of fire ascends —
sunrise

along the edge
heuchera flowers push up
squirrel's cache

bit by bit
the light climbs the old trunk —
counts time

white tipped
kiwi vine leaves rustle —
a flash of wing

still air
a few branches sway —
flock of birds
