we leave early tomorrow morning. due to the incoming controller strike, we aren't taking a chance. had a nice time sketching and drinking #coffee at the Grand Café des Négociants one last time this trip. really looking forward to getting home. we miss our cats. GM.

stopped along the route for a not too bad #coffee.

stopped in Valence today. we have a rooftop view, so it's tera-cotta roman tiled roofs, old TV antennas and pigeons. the church steeple with its coq gaulois is off in the distance.

i'm not in the mood to write today so i'm doing it anyway. that's a part of the practice of writing. onward to Lyon tomorrow.

this town is really pretty, built onto the hill. walking by the church, there was singing inside so i went in and the priest welcomed me, we shook hands. there were about a dozen people singing a hymn. i was touched/moved and shed a couple tears. had a #coffee along the route at a busy bakery. tomorrow is our last day in Provence. next we head up the Rhone to Valence overnight then Lyon (fave). GM.

went to le Castellet this morning. it's one of those towns that's mostly a tourist mall now. had a #coffee at the only place that was open, then left when some guys sat down in front of us and blocked the view of what i was sketching. went for a drive and had a fantastic lunch elsewhere. towns like this make me sad. often the fake regional goods they peddle have 'made in China' labels. buyer beware. GM.

we took the 9am boat to Porquerolles (île) this morning. we went back on the 11:30am. the island is beautiful but overrun with obese boomers and bike rental shops. had a very nice #coffee and breakfast on the island. other than that... cringe. the Côte d'Azure is not our favourite place to be. GM.
